The founders of Zitto e Mangia were raised in migrant Italian and Maltese families in suburban Melbourne during the 1970s. Their homes were vibrant with activity and filled with the enticing aromas of homemade pasta, tomato sauce, and freshly baked bread.
Their cultural heritage was deeply cherished, preserved through the tradition of storytelling and the passing down of treasured recipes from one generation to the next. From a young age, they actively participated in annual rituals such as sauce-making and sausage-making days, immersing themselves in the traditions that formed the foundations of their heritage.
Driven by a desire to share their cultural heritage with others, they established Zitto e Mangia; inviting others to gather, savour delicious meals, and create lasting memories around the table.
